Maximum Throughput Debuts MAXedit Server Edition and MAXedit Web Edition at IBC 2008 (7/8/2008)

Maximum Throughput Inc., developers of ultra high performance software-based solutions for networked storage infrastructure and media management, has announced the availability of MAXedit Server Edition, a multi-user server-based editing application, and MAXedit Web Edition, a professional web-based editing platform powering the company's online editing service.

The award-winning software application and online service will both make their European debut at the International Broadcasters Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, starting September 12, 2008. Maximum Throughput will exhibit in Hall 7, Stand J18, during IBC 2008.

MAXedit Server Edition will be released in late October of this year. The software application allows broadcasters and boutique production shops to set up multi-seat HD/SD editing workgroups simply and cost-effectively. Rather than incurring the prohibitive costs of deploying expensive, dedicated HD/SD workstations, the MAXedit Server Edition application, installed once on a central server and launched from standard desktop or laptop computers, provides the same functionality at a fraction of the capital cost and deployment time. With the flexibility of having no set limit on number of concurrent editing seats, multiple local or remote users can access and edit HD and SD video content using a rich editing toolset and fluid user interface from the convenience of their Web browser. Numerous compressed and uncompressed SD/HD sequence of images or movie formats are supported, including the most common tapeless camera formats. By virtue of its innovative distributed client/server design using network-shared storage and adaptive streaming technology, the editing application substantially reduces congestion on Local Area Networks (LANs) and provides the means to work over the Internet, while still enabling frame-accurate editing of HD/SD material with real-time preview.

The subscription-based online editing service, powered by the MAXedit Web Edition platform, will be available to select customers in November, with full public launch anticipated later this year. With MAXedit Web Edition on-demand Software as a Service (SaaS) model, freelance editors, videographers, citizen reporters and journalists in the field have a professional, streamlined editing solution that's readily accessible whenever and wherever they need to work. Once their video content is uploaded, subscribers can edit and collaborate on their projects without having to purchase, install or maintain high-end editing gear. The powerful web-based platform supports frame-accurate, native format editing of compressed HD/SD content-including HDV, DV, DVCPRO, and MPEG-2-through a highly interactive interface launched from a Web browser.

While Maximum Throughput is best known for Sledgehammer-its powerful flagship storage system used by such high-profile customers as CBS, FOX News, NBC, ABC, HSN, RTE, and the BBC-NAB 2008 marked the first time the company offered editing solutions.
