Telecast Fiber Systems shows CopperHead INF Camera-Mounted Transceiver for Thomson Grass Valley Infinity Camcorder at IBC 2008 (28/7/2008)

New Products on Display at IBC2008

The new CopperHead(TM) INF camera-mounted fiber optic transceiver for the Thomson Grass Valley(TM) Infinity(TM) camcorder enables use of the Infinity as both a camcorder and an HD-SDI multi-cam production camera. The compact CopperHead INF sits between the Infinity camcorder and its battery, delivering bidirectional HD-SDI, composite video, audio, intercom, genlock, and camera control between the Infinity camera head and the remote base station over a single lightweight, battlefield-rated fiber optic cable. Optionally, SMPTE hybrid cable can be used if remote powering of the camera is required. The 1-RU base station integrates easily into any studio, mobile truck, or portable flypack and plugs directly into the facility's switcher, router, intercom, and house sync systems. In addition, the CopperHead INF system permits "iso-recording" on each Infinity camcorder's internal REV-PRO drive during multi-camera productions, allowing for additional post-production editing without the need for expensive studio-style recorders.

SuperBooth Application Suite

Telecast will demonstrate its exclusive new SuperBooth application suite of fiber optics systems packaged for demanding mobile applications, such as televised coverage of golf and other sports events. SuperBooth provides broadcasters with a plug-and-play solution for leveraging fiber optic networks to overcome the challenges of mobile coverage and deliver the highest quality video to viewers. The SuperBooth suite includes the Telecast Adder(TM) II audio, intercom, and data multiplexer; the DiamondBack(TM) 4X4 audio and video multiplexer; the TeleThon(TM) HD-SDI CWDM multiplexer; and Telecast's new dual-redundant AC/DC RackBack(TM) power system.

openGear(TM) Fiber Optic Video Transport Modules

Based on Telecast's popular and well-established Viper(TM) II video transport family, the company's new OG-TX292-A and OG-RX292 fiber optic serial digital video modules are now shipping in support of the award-winning openGear(TM) terminal equipment platform from Ross Video. openGear is based on an open-architecture 2-RU modular frame, designed to accommodate up to 10 cards. Telecast is one of a number of terminal equipment vendors supporting the openGear platform, which gives facilities the freedom and flexibility to choose the best technology for their particular applications. Designed for transporting any digital video signal over fiber up to 1.5 Gbps, the OG-TX292-A and OG-RX292 modules offer the industry's broadest range of digital transmission rates while maintaining the transmission quality that broadcasters demand.
