Merging Technologies MassCore gives Pyramix almost unlimited processing power (6/7/2008)

MassCore is a new technology from Swiss based Merging Technologies, which now forms the foundation for all existing and future developments from Merging. It is a truly astonishing development that offers almost unlimited processing power and yet is largely, but not exclusively, centred on a new real-time operating system running directly inside the PC. Part of this technology was originally developed for industrial and robotic control use and Merging's new adaptation of it is unique, positioning the Pyramix DAW far beyond what any other system can offer in terms of power, speed, channel count and very low latencies.

"Since its availability in January this year with the release of Pyramix V6.0 the adoption of MassCore into existing and new Pyramix systems has been tremendous" explains Claude Cellier President of Merging, "increasing existing users processing power and channel count by a factor of six or more with a simple upgrade.

"The new Pyramix MassCore based mix engine offers up to 384 inputs and outputs (768 I/O channels) at 48kHz. More importantly this means 192 channels at 96kHz and 96 channels at 192kHz. The most amazing aspect is Pyramix's extreme high resolution capability that, with MassCore, is now 48 channels in DSD (1-bit 2.8MHz sample rate) and also in DXD (32-bit float @352.8kHz)."
